Reddit Bans Explained: Suspensions, Shadowbans and Subreddit Bans

"I got banned" covers three very different punishments on Reddit. Understanding which one you're facing determines whether anything can be done — and what to do differently.

1. Subreddit ban — the common one

A moderator removed you from their community. Your account works everywhere else; you just can't post in that sub.

• Cause: usually a specific rule violation — self-promotion, off-topic, tone

2. Shadowban — the invisible one
